Dining Room

Thankfully, all of the major items in our dining room have been finished! Larry Lynch helped us lay the tile in here and get it started for pretty much the rest of the house, and we could not love it more! Before, there was some interesting carpet in the room and pretty much no color anywhere (which was a welcome thing based on the rest of the colors). Tim worked so hard to add all of the can-lights on the entryway and the beautiful chandelier hung above our table. We also hung the curtains, textured & painted the walls. I could not love it any more.

We still have the trim to put up, a console table to make, a few shelves & mirrors to hang, and some end chairs & fabric to put at the table, but it is pretty much finished! Thankfully, these are all design elements, and are pretty fun!

One of the items on our "to get to" list is making a shelf from aged wood to hang over the piano with some decorative iron brackets. A Church we helped over spring break with our students was generous enough to give us some of the wood we tore out from their auditorium. The plan is to give it an aged, wax finish for a shelf over the piano.

Also, we plan on finding an old barn
beam to build a console table for the wall that you see immediately when you walk in the front door (the wall where the white desk is in the picture below). We also have some old windows given to us by some dear friends, and I want to replace the glass with mirror panes & glaze the back of the mirrors to give it an "antiqued" or mercury glass look. Those will be hung behind the table on the big, open wall.

We also have a cushion to cover in fabric for the chair by the piano in the entryway, but that's not really a big deal. It is slowly coming together, and I hope to get to the point where I start hanging some artwork on the wall, but we need to hang our mirrors and build our console table first. I love the way our house is turning out!

  1. Chauncey says, "You're decorating and there's not any baseboards!!!???" This is totally against the law in our house. =) Looks good though!
